Tarot Beginnings

May 31, 2024 · Wren Halloway

Three cards, one question, and the courage to trust your first impression — a gentle start for new readers.

Your first reading does not need a ten-card spread. Three cards — past, present, and the path forming ahead — will teach you more than any guidebook, because the story they tell is yours.

Shuffle with a question

Hold one clear question in mind as you shuffle, something open rather than yes-or-no: what should I understand about this choice? Then lay three cards left to right and read them as one sentence before you study any single card.

Trust the first impression

Before you look up meanings, notice what catches your eye — a color, a figure, a feeling. That first flicker is the reading working. The guidebook refines it afterward, but the instinct comes first and it is usually right.

Our readers write what they practice — every entry comes from a real sitting, ritual, or night sky.
